Niagara Falls Fireworks 2026: Schedule, Best Viewing Spots, Tips
Niagara Falls fireworks are back for the 2026 season starting Friday, May 15, at 10 PM — and unlike old guides will tell you, they run nightly through October 12. Here's the complete schedule, the best free viewing spots, and the timing tricks locals use to skip the worst of the crowd.
2026 schedule at a glance
Special / extended displays in 2026
- Victoria Day weekend — May 16–18 (extended show on Saturday and Monday holiday)
- Canada Day — July 1 (full 15-minute display, biggest crowds of the year)
- US Independence Day — July 4 (extended show, US-visitor heavy)
- Civic Holiday — August 4 (extended)
- Labour Day weekend — August 30 / September 1 (extended)
- Series finale — October 12 (Thanksgiving Monday, biggest send-off)
Best free viewing spots
The fireworks are launched from a barge moored in the upper river, almost directly opposite Table Rock. Anywhere with a clear sightline to the upper river works — but these three are best:
1. Table Rock
Closest viewpoint. The barge is launched from here, so the show fills your whole sky. Downside: gets the wind, which means mist + smoke in your face on a southwest breeze. Arrive 9:30 PM in summer for a rail spot.
2. Queen Victoria Park
5-minute walk south of Table Rock. More space (the lawn fits hundreds), slightly elevated, and far enough back that wind isn't an issue. Locals' pick.
3. Upper Clifton Hill walk near the SkyWheel
If you're already up the hill for dinner, walk to the railing in front of the SkyWheel. Higher elevation, dramatic angle on the falls + fireworks together. Less crowded than Table Rock.
Best paid viewing
Skylon Tower revolving dining room is the unbeatable paid view. 236 metres up, 360° rotation per hour, and a window table at 8:30 PM puts you at the glass for the 10 PM show. Reserve 2–4 weeks ahead in summer; ~$80–$120 per person all-in.
Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview rooms above the 25th floor have a direct view from the bedroom window. Premium, but if you're overnighting anyway it doesn't cost extra.
Hornblower / Niagara City Cruise late evening sailings sometimes coincide with fireworks night — check the schedule and book the 9:30 PM departure. You watch the show from the water.
Photography tips
- Tripod is mandatory — 1–4 second exposures are needed for trail shots
- ISO 100, f/8–f/11, shutter on bulb mode if your phone allows it
- Frame the falls in the bottom third, leave room above for the burst
- Phone shooters: turn on Long Exposure (iPhone) or Pro Mode with 2-second shutter (Android)
- Shoot the first 30 seconds — that's the densest, most photogenic part
- Don't shoot the whole show through the screen. Trust us, watch some of it
Logistics from Toronto
If you're day-tripping from Toronto for the fireworks, plan to leave Niagara Falls right after the show ends (~10:15 PM) — the QEW heading west clears quickly because most visitors stay overnight. You'll be back in Toronto by midnight.
If you'd rather not drive home tired, book the night tour with us — we handle the QEW, you nap on the way back, and you're dropped at your hotel without ever touching a steering wheel.
FAQ
When do the Niagara Falls fireworks start in 2026?
The 2026 series begins Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 PM and runs nightly through October 12, 2026. There are no fireworks before May 15.
Are the fireworks every night or only weekends?
Once the series starts on May 15, the show is nightly at 10 PM — not just weekends. This is a change from older guides that still describe the schedule as Friday/Sunday only.
Where is the best place to watch Niagara Falls fireworks for free?
Table Rock (closest, gets the wind), Queen Victoria Park (more space, slightly elevated), and the upper Clifton Hill walk near the SkyWheel. All three are free, walkable, and clear sightlines. Arrive 30–45 minutes before 10 PM in summer for a front spot.
How long are the fireworks?
About 8 minutes of choreographed pyrotechnics, set to a recorded soundtrack on local FM (90.3 FM in Niagara Falls). Special holiday and Victoria Day displays can run 12–15 minutes.
Are the fireworks cancelled if it rains?
They almost never cancel for rain — the show goes on through light precipitation. The only common cancellation reason is high wind that creates a safety risk for the launch barge. Check Niagara Parks' social media on the day if conditions look severe.
